DISC Business behaviour

During my business coaching amd mentoring I have come across many different types of business owners. This article lists the main four types of business behaviours that can be identified from the four segments of the DISC Behavioural Profile. The four types are the dominating Commander, the influencing Entrepreneurial, the supporting Producer and the compliant technician type of person. Knowing what to look for when meeting, working or negotiating with different people can be extremely useful and certainly can help achieve the outcomes you want.

- be able to spot the different behaviours of people in business
- have a language of what to expect from different types of people
- know what to expect and how to fill in the gaps of anybody that you meet in business or socially
Business behaviour
Commanding Type - Dominator
Strengths – leads, decisive, change orientated, conveys confidence,
Gaps – stubborn, inconsistent, aggressive, demanding, often poor communication skills
What to know – does not like constraints, wants more from others,
Entrepreneurial Marketeer Type - Influencer
Strengths – high trust level, approachable, verbal skills, creative, butterfly
Gaps – maybe not good listener, difficult being firm, not numerate enough
What to know – tend towards impulsive, avoid problems, overestimate others ability
Producer Type - Supporter
Strengths – organised, follows through, hands on, supportive, team orientation, knowledgeable, results orientated
Gaps – slow pace, not to want hurt people’s feelings, tendency towards work-aholic
What to know – don’t like taking risks, prefer current routines, averse to fast pace change
Technician type - Compliance
Strengths – independent, analytical and assessing, anticipate problems, desire accuracy
Gaps – looks for errors, poor communication, data not people, detail orientated
What to know – factual conclusions, uncomfortable with aggressive types, thinker
